In 2016 I was hired to turn a 38 page Word document into a page-turning report with the accompanying brochure. The audience included policymakers and potential funders. Over the course of the project, I worked with biologists, conservation district officers, Tribe members, and the members of the Department of Natural Resources.
Key partners include Skokomish Tribe members, Mason County Conservation District, area farmers, the forestry service, and Tacoma Power. The stakeholders had different areas of focus, my job included creating a visual narrative that represented each effectively.

Cooperative Gardens 2020 Report
A Plot to Save the World
I am a Commissioner with the Cooperative Gardens Commission (CGC), joining early on in April, at about the same time the Treasure Valley Community Gardens Cooperative was forming. CGC was formed in 2020 as a direct response to the COVID pandemic with the express goals of increasing community food production, resource-sharing, and helping to create food sovereignty especially in communities that were struggling before the pandemic. Initially, I joined the Media, Design & Messaging Working Group and became the facilitator for the Anti-Oppression and Allyship Working Group by late spring.
In 2020, CGC has provided free seeds to an estimated 12,000 gardens via 257 local seed hubs in 41 states. Over the course of 2021, we distributed seeds to 300 seed hubs.
This report aims to detail where CGC has been, where we are going, and how you can get involved. You can get in touch with us at: CooperativeGardens@gmail.com
As part of our cooperative work, I carried the established branding developed by Sarah Medina throughout the report and collateral online content.
Several Commissioners helped to gather dispatches from our working groups, and reports back from the seed hubs.
As part of our fundraising efforts, I developed a Patreon account and created collateral keepsakes so supporters have an additional something to showcase their support for CGC. This also included a couple of custom illustrations.
We are utilizing this report for all-channel content, press outreach, org-to-org networking, and as a comprehensive introduction to the work.
Please note: I am looking for work that allows me to put as much life energy into food system security as possible, from the ground up. There are intersections with pretty much every area of community building that I’m passionate about. This report is an ongoing demonstration of my ability and dedication to building a resilient community!

MMIW infographic and t-shirt art.
Five days of FB page posts made from the abundance of data on the infographic.
These were delivered in the lead-up to the event held on May 5th, 2019. All art was visualized from a statistical primer, drawn from Sarah Deer’s book,
The Beginning and End of Rape: Confronting Sexual Violence in Native America.
Program graphics were developed in collaboration with Tai Simpson, the Storyteller, a young matriarch of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) People. All works shown here were gifted in honor of the stories that survivors shared with me.
Indigenous People’s Day event graphics for FB and print flyers.
The concept and production happened with group consensus.
The goal was to create a graphic that would be fun in order to connect with college-age Indigenous community members of multiple age groups. It was decided to go for a throwback to 80’s pop culture. The monarch is representative of the connection between Idaho’s tribes and Latino/Hispanic/Latinx community members. The illustration is loosely based on a Pac-Man theme.

Strategic fundraising campaign for a newly established Veterans farming group. Joining efforts with GRuB in 2015, a nonprofit in Olympia, WA, helped a cohort of at-risk youth learn how to garden while developing leadership skills each year. When the Veteran program was introduced their collective positive community impact nearly tripled in the first year.

This project was originally designed in collaboration with the product vendor and a Costco buyer. I was given the task of carrying the approved line-look through to new packages using different substrates. The maps were digitally created using Illustrator and Photoshop over the course of two weeks and three rounds of review. The labeling was printed at different print shops based on distribution. I traveled to approve via press check to Portland Oregon, then later to Toronto, ON, Canada.
